This page covers how to search Juneau criminal records online, how to get copies from the courthouse, and where to submit police records requests through the Juneau Police Department.
Juneau Felony Records Overview
Search Juneau Felony Records Online
CourtView is the Alaska Court System's free public case search tool. You can access it at records.courts.alaska.gov without registering. Search by the defendant's name, a case number, or a date range. When searching for Juneau felony records, select the First District to filter results to courts in the Juneau area. Each case listing shows the charges filed, their class, the hearing schedule, and how the case was resolved.
The Juneau Superior Court handles original felony filings. The District Court, also in Juneau, handles misdemeanors, traffic cases, and civil claims under $100,000. Both courts appear in CourtView. Some records are sealed, particularly those involving juveniles or protected witnesses. If a record is sealed, you will see it listed in search results but won't be able to view its contents without a court order.
For Juneau cases that are not in CourtView, the Alaska Court System maintains a broader case search page at courts.alaska.gov. This page links to CourtView and other docket search tools. It also explains what types of records are and are not available online.
The Juneau courts directory is published at courts.alaska.gov and lists all courtrooms, clerk contacts, and records request procedures for Juneau felony cases.
Use the Juneau courts directory to find the specific clerk or department handling your records request, whether for a felony, civil, or domestic relations case.
Juneau Superior Court and Copy Fees
The Juneau Superior Court is in the Dimond Court Building at 123 4th Street, P.O. Box 114100, Juneau, AK 99811. The main phone number is (907) 463-4700. This is where you go to request physical copies of Juneau felony case documents. The court directory page at courts.alaska.gov/courtdir has the current contact details for all Juneau court divisions.
Copy fees at the Juneau courthouse follow the statewide schedule. Plain copies are $5 for the first page and $3 for each page after that. Certified copies cost $10 for the first page and $3 for each additional. If you do not have the case number and the clerk has to search for your records, a research fee of $30 per hour may apply. Bring the case number if you have it. You can find it in CourtView before you go.
Mail requests are accepted. Send your request with a check payable to the Alaska Court System to the Dimond Court Building address above. Include as much identifying information as you can: full name, date of birth, approximate case date, and any case number you have. Requests sent with clear identifying details are filled faster.
Note: Certified copies are required for some legal proceedings. Ask the clerk which type of copy is right for your purpose before paying for the wrong one.
Juneau Police Department Records
The Juneau Police Department Records Unit handles requests for arrest reports, incident reports, and related criminal records. JPD is located at 6255 Alaway Avenue, Juneau, AK 99801. Main phone is (907) 586-0600 and fax is (907) 463-4808. The department website is at juneau.org/police-department.
To request JPD records, submit a written request in person or by mail to the Alaway Avenue address. Include the case number if you have it, or provide the full name of the person involved along with the date and location of the incident. Valid ID is required for some requests, particularly when you are requesting records that include personal identifying information. Fees may apply for copies depending on the size of the file. Response times vary based on the scope of the request and whether the file is part of an active investigation.
Juneau Police Department data shows that in 2022, the department made 1,465 arrests. That volume means a significant number of incident reports are on file. Not all arrests lead to felony charges. Many result in misdemeanor filings or no charges at all. The court file in CourtView shows what charges were actually filed after an arrest. JPD records show what police documented at the scene and during the investigation.
Lemon Creek Correctional Center
The Lemon Creek Correctional Center is at 2000 Lemon Creek Road, Juneau, AK 99801. Phone is (907) 465-4450. The facility is operated by the Alaska Department of Corrections and serves as the primary detention facility for the Juneau area. It holds pretrial defendants awaiting hearings in Juneau courts as well as sentenced inmates. More information about visitation, bail procedures, and inmate lookup is on the DOC Lemon Creek page.
Lemon Creek has a smaller capacity than correctional centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Some Juneau-area inmates may be transferred to other Alaska facilities depending on classification and available space. To locate someone in any Alaska correctional facility, use the VINE system at vinelink.com or call 1-800-247-9763. VINE is free and available around the clock. It also allows you to sign up for alerts when a person's custody status changes.
Criminal History and Background Checks
The Alaska Department of Public Safety maintains the state's criminal history database. Background checks are available through the DPS background check portal. A name-based check costs $20. A fingerprint-based check costs $35. Fingerprint checks are more thorough because they reach federal databases through the FBI, not just Alaska state records. Criminal history in Alaska is governed by AS 12.62, which sets rules on access and what can be disclosed.
DPS background checks return records from law enforcement agencies across the state. This includes arrests, charges, and dispositions. A CourtView search shows only what is in the court system. A DPS check may return records that never resulted in charges or that came from a different court. For a full picture of someone's criminal history in Juneau or elsewhere in Alaska, both tools together give the most complete view.

Sex Offender Registry in Juneau
The Alaska Sex Offender Registry is searchable for free at sor.dps.alaska.gov. The registry lists individuals convicted of qualifying sex offenses in Alaska, including those in Juneau. Registration is required under AS 12.63.010. Each registry entry includes the person's current address, photo, and the offense that triggered registration. You can search by name or by geographic location to find registrants in the Juneau area.
The registry only covers sex offense convictions. Other felony types, such as drug offenses, robbery, or assault, are not listed here. For those, CourtView and DPS background checks are the right tools. The registry is updated regularly by DPS and reflects current registration status, not just historical convictions.
Felony Classes and Alaska Law
Alaska felonies are classified under AS 11.81. Class A felonies carry the longest sentences, up to 20 years for most offenses. Class B felonies carry up to 10 years, and Class C felonies carry up to 5 years. Unclassified felonies, which include murder in the first and second degree, carry sentences defined in their own statutes and can include life imprisonment. When you look at a Juneau felony record in CourtView, the charge class tells you which sentencing range applies.
Alaska's Public Records Act at AS 40.25.110 through 40.25.120 gives the public access to most government records. Court filings are public by default. The Alaska Court System self-help center at courts.alaska.gov/shc has plain-language guides on records requests and what to expect when filing one. Court forms are at courts.alaska.gov/forms. Alaska Statutes are searchable at akleg.gov.
Juneau City and Borough Records
Juneau felony cases fall under the City and Borough of Juneau. The borough page covers courthouse details, local agencies, and additional search resources for the Juneau area.
